Dr. Bill Banfield, currently serves in the Liberal Arts dept. as Professor of Africana Studies/ Music and Society, director of the Center For Africana Studies and programs. An award winning composer, jazz guitarist /recording artist, public radio show host, he has authored five books for Scarecrow Press on music, arts, cultural criticism and history, and currently serves as their series editor for jazz and cultural studies. Dr. Cornel West has called him, " one of the last grand Renaissance men in our time..a towering artist, exemplary educator, rigorous scholar, courageous freedom fighter.."
