New Scholarly Journal on Springsteen

A periodical devoted to Bruce Springsteen isn't novel, Backstreets has been in print for 33 years. Scholarly interest in the New Jersey bard is nothing new, either; our collection includes Bruce Springsteen, Cultural Studies and the Runaway American Dream (ML420.S675 W66 2012), a collection of scholarly essays, and dozens of articles on him have appeared in academic journals devoted to popular music and American studies. What is new is BOSS: The Biannual Online-Journal of Springsteen Studies, an open access academic journal that publishes peer-reviewed essays pertaining to Bruce Springsteen, which just launched its premiere issue.

Articles include Another Side of “Born in the U.S.A.”: Form, Paradox, and Rhetorical Indirection and Whose Hometown? Reception of Bruce Springsteen as an Index of Australian National Identities.

If you're feeling particularly inspired by it, they have a call for proposals for the next issue. Abstracts or articles are due September 1.
