Harry Pickens (June 13-17)

Harry Pickens is a pianist, composer, teacher, organizational consultant and engaged citizen. His inspiring and unique recordings, concerts and workshops have touched the lives of over 250,000 people over the past 25 years. Pickens was born in the coastal city of Brunswick, Georgia and currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky. A modern-day Renaissance man, Pickens has integrated his many interests and talents into a unique and multifaceted career.

His international career as a jazz pianist has taken him to 17 countries throughout Europe, Japan, and the Americas, collaborating with many top names in the jazz field – Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard, James Moody, Milt Jackson (Modern Jazz Quartet), Don Braden (musical director for The Cosby show), Bob Hurst (bassist for The Tonight Show) and hundreds of others. Performance credits include recordings on the Blue Note label, international radio and television appearances (including Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz), and engagements in top concert and club venues worldwide.

Harry has also been a classroom teacher on the elementary, middle, and high school and collegiate levels. He has also conducted seminars and workshops on Leadership, Personal Mastery, Communication, and Social Artistry throughout the US and created/promoted community-wide celebrations that tap the power of the arts to inspire positive social change. Caroline Harvey (July 11-13)

Caroline Harvey is a poet and performer who has appeared on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and competed nationally on the poetry slam circuit. She is also a dancer and yoga expert, as well as a yoga, dance, and meditation instructor, workshop leader, and doula (birth attendant). She is in private practice as a Somatic therapist in Boston, specializing in Craniosacral Therapy, and is the creator of Sacred Groove, an estatic dance practice; Awakening the Yogini: Extraordinary Yoga and Education for Women; and The CranioYoga Work: the Artful Synthesis of Restorative Yin Yoga and CranioSacral Therapy. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from Boston University and a Master's Degree in Dance from UCLA's Department of World Arts and Cultures. Caroline Harvey coaches the Berklee Poetry Slam Team and helped the team win the "Spirit of the Slam" award at the 2010 National College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational.
