Student : Loan Periods

Library Circulation
Berklee students : 2 weeks, up to 10 items
Five-Week students : 2 weeks, up to 5 items

Items may be renewed in person at the library circulation desk, unless the item is on hold for another patron. Please bring the item(s) you wish to renew to the library. All library material is due the week before the session ends.

Library Reserves
All students : 2 hours

You may take library reserve matrials, including books, textbooks, lead sheets, fake books and class packets, out of the library, but they must be returned to the circulation desk within two hours. Never keep reserve material out overnight! Students with overdue reserve material will lose Media Center privileges and be fined $5 per day until the item(s) are returned.

Library Reference and Periodicals
Reference books and periodicals may only be used on the library premises.

Media Center Material
All students : 2 hours

Berklee students are required to leave their Berklee ID at the Media Center circulation desk. Please note that Media Center staff will not accept outdated Berklee IDs, or any other form of identification. Compact discs, laser discs, videos and DVDs may not leave the Media Center. No commercially available audio or video items may be viewed, listened to, copied (i.e. burned) or encoded (i.e. ripped) on a laptop computer or any other type of personal recording/ copying device. Patrons caught violating these rules will lose Media Center privileges for sixteen weeks.

Student : Fines
The fine for overdue library materials is 25¢ per day. The fine for overdue library reserve or Media Center materials is $5 per day.

Overdue Notices
As a courtesy, library staff will e-mail your Berklee.edu account if you fail to return an item on time. Be sure to check your .net account periodically, since it has a limited amount of space. Students are responsible for returning the materials on time and for paying any fines incurred, whether or not an overdue notice is received.

Faculty : Loan Periods
Library material : 4 weeks (20 items)
Media Center material : 24 hours (2 items)
Reserve material : 2 hours

Reference books and periodicals may only be used on the library premises. Faculty and staff are not fined for overdue items, however, we do ask that you try to be considerate of other patrons by returning or renewing overdue items. If you need to take out more than two Media Center items, contact Ralph Rosen at x8338 or rrosen@berklee.edu.

Faculty : Reserve Circulation
All library reserve material including books, textbooks, lead sheets, and class packets circulate for up to two hours and may be removed from the library during the time they are checked out. Please inform your students that they are not able to checkout reserve materials overnight!

Faculty members who put materials on reserve are the only people able to checkout those materials overnight. If you as a faculty member need to borrow another faculty member’s reserve item(s), please obtain written permission from that faculty member.
