Reserves

Two types of course reserves are available: desk reserve and online reserve. It can take up to two weeks to put something on reserve, so please plan accordingly.

Desk Reserve
Faculty may place scores, books, course packets, CDs, videos or DVDs on desk reserve to be available for students at the library's reserve desk or in the Media Center. To do this, please contact Lee Bryars at x2500, lbryars@berklee.edu, or in her office (room 109 in the Media Center). Do not bring your own material to put on reserve; if the library does not already own a copy of the item you want to use, we will order one.

Online Reserve
If you are interested in creating online course reserves (which includes audio and visual material), contact Ernie Gillis at x8533, egillis@berklee.edu or in his office (room 182 in the 150 building).

Reserve Circulation
All library reserve material including books, textbooks, lead sheets, and class packets circulate for up to two hours and may be removed from the library during the time they are checked out. Please inform your students that they are not able to checkout reserve materials overnight!

Faculty members who put materials on reserve are the only people able to checkout those materials overnight. If you as a faculty member need to borrow another faculty member's reserve item(s), please obtain written permission from that faculty member.

Interlibrary Loan & Holds
Berklee faculty and staff may use Interlibrary Loan to borrow or obtain copies of books, scores or articles not found in Berklee's collection. You may also place holds online on any four-week circulating material which is currently checked out. Please visit the reference desk for more information. You may also e-mail Zoë Rath directly at zrath@berklee.edu.

Library Instruction
The library offers one to two hour-long library instruction sessions that can be tailored to the needs of a specific course or topic. These are led by a librarian in one of the Learning Center’s labs and provide students with hands-on instruction in using the library’s resources. Research guides and bibliographies may also be developed to assist students in research projects. Please contact Rebecca Hunt (rhunt@berklee.edu) to schedule an instruction session and/or to discuss other ways in which the library can assist faculty.
